Lavinia “Dee” Brown-Potter, 60, of Arapahoe, Wyoming passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. A rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Eagle Hall with the wake to follow at 281 Goes In Lodge Road. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.

 

Dee Brown was born on November 4, 1963 in Riverton, Wyoming to Daniel and Agnes Brown. She was an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and was given her Indian name, Hesiikohusei “Runs Fast Woman”. She grew up and lived on the Wind River Reservation, her whole life.

 

Dee was baptized into the Catholic faith.

 

Dee was a homemaker, worked at the Arapahoe Store, Northern Arapaho TANF program, and as an assistant cook at the Great Plains Head Start Program.

 

Dee was a barrel racer in the rodeos, played basketball, ran track and field, and Pow wows; She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

 

She is survived by her companion, Harold Amos; daughters, Tiffany Roman, Danelle Roman, Alana (Derek) Williams, Ally Amos, Nicolette Brown, Courtney Blackburn, Jamey Blackburn, and Jocelyn Mills; sons, Antonio Dean Roman, Ace Roman, Shane (Jocelyn) Brown, Doug Brown, and Ricky Blackburn, Jr.; brothers, Don (Charlene) Brown, Ricky Blackburn, Sr., Byron Bruisedhead, Stephen Headley, Leo Headley, Forrest Headley and Thomas Bushyhead, John Bushyhead, Jr., and Benny Miller; sisters, Inez Brown, Paulette “Polly” Warren, Teri Bushyhead, Kristina Bushyhead, Nancy Wahtomyl Miller, Maggie Miller, Brenda (Pat) Hubbard, and Alberta, Elaine, and Erica Monroe; aunts, Anna Miller, Jodi Brown, Nenie Brown, Evvie Brown, Marily Brown, and  Victoria Lopez; godmother, Jerilyn Tourkolas; uncles, Moose Brown, Gary Brown, Howard Brown, Gabriel Warren, Mitchell Warren, Sr., Harold O’Brien Sr.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and the families of Warren, Brown, Monroe, Amos, Trosper, and Headley.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Agnes Brown; grandparents, Victoria SunRhodes, Pete Monroe, Geraldine (Buster) Brown, Pauline and Benjamin Runs Medicine, Vincent and Katie Brown; brother, Lloyd Brown; sister, Laureen Case; granddaughter, Brianna June Brown; aunts, Joanne Blackburn, Patricia Snoots, and Matilda Bushyhead; uncles, Eugene Monroe, Kenneth Blackburn, Sr., Dennis Monroe, Linus Monroe, Willie Trosper, Merton Trosper, Brian Trosper, and Kenneth Trosper.
