Graveside services for Katherine P. Easterday of Dubois will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Dubois Cemetery. Deaconess Lyndie Duff of the Episcopal Church will officiate. There will be a viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton with a second viewing at the Davis Funeral Home from 8 to 9 a.m. on Saturday. Mrs. Easterday died at the Cheyenne Health Care Center Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 2007. She was 87 years old. Katherine Pappas was born on Jan. 12, 1920, in Fromberg, Mont. She was the daughter of Alex K. and Mary S. (Hamilton) Pappas. The family came to Albany, Wyo., in 1924, and she attended school there. Mrs. Easterday was a homemaker, having married Earle Easterday on Dec. 6, 1937, in Fort Collins, Colo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1990. The couple first moved to the Dunoir Valley, out of Dubois, where they lived in one of the original tie hack camps. Following her husband's work in the saw mills, the family lived at Saratoga, Cheyenne, Afton, and Riverton. She left Dubois in the fall of 2002, to move to Cheyenne. Mr. and Mrs. Easterday built five houses and her family said the thing of which she was the most proud were the fireplaces she built in these homes. Devoted to family, Mrs. Easterday loved to cook and her family said her fondest memories were of happy gatherings of family and friends. They said she loved the mountains and trees and loved to work in her yard and home "and make anything look pretty." She was born into the Greek Orthodox faith and was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Dubois. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Margaret Paulsen and her husband Lyle; two grandchildren, Becky Emerson and her husband Bob and Tom Paulsen and wife Kristin; six great grandchild, Britte Emerson, Chase Emerson, Britney Landis, Reed Paulsen, Cassie Paulsen, T.J. Paulsen; a sister Ethel Kendrick and her husband Gene. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Earle Easterday; her parents, Alex and Mary Pappas; a sister, Alice Franzen and husband Harold, and granddaughter, Peggy Paulsen.
