Funeral services for Matilda Marie Bushyhead, 65, will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Father Phil Wager officiating. Interment will follow at Friday Cemetery. A Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5th at St. Stephens Catholic Church. A wake will follow at 422 Left Hand Ditch Road.

She died May 30, 2013 at the Lander Valley Medical Center.

Matilda was born December 12, 1947 in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, daughter of Louis T. and Christina (Pine) Underwood. She was raised by her adopted parents, Peter Monroe and Victoria Warren SunRhodes. She was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation.

She attended school in St. Stephens. Her graduating class of 1966 was the last. She also graduated from Haskell Institute in 1968 and in 1971 she became a certified Teacher’s Aid from Central Wyoming College.

On January 25, 1974, she married John M. Bushyhead in Riverton.

She worked as a Teacher’s Aid at Head Start for 7 years, St. Stephens Indian School for 7 years and the Arapahoe School for 10 years.

Matilda enjoyed going to the 789 Casino, watching her favorite t.v. programs such as The Price is Right, The Young and the Restless and Little House on the Prairie.
