Joyce M. Duran, 73, of Arapahoe died Friday afternoon, October 25, 2013 at her home. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery, St. Stephens, WY. Rosary service will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at the Davis Funeral Home. A wake will follow at her residence, 16 C’Hair Lane, Arapahoe.

Joyce Marie Duran was born February 12, 1940 in Fort Washakie, Wyoming to Steven Duran Sr. and Ida Mae (Willow) Duran. She was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation. She attended Arapahoe School, Riverton High School, and Casper College. She worked for the Public Health Services for 35 years, and 10 years as a Culture Teacher at Arapahoe School. She also served as a Northern Arapaho Election Judge.

Her family said she enjoyed Beading, Bingo and Gambling, spending time with family, teaching, reading and craftwork.

She was a member of the Catholic Faith, Native American Church and participated in sweats.

She married Raymond P. Underwood in Lander, Wyoming in June of 1967 together they had three children.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, son, Rodrick L Underwood; her sisters, Estelle SunRhodes, Joan Monroe, Virginia Duran, Arlene Bell, Margaret Duran, Mary Ellen Duran, and Doris Flores; and her brothers, Steven Duran, Jr., Wayland Duran, Virgil Duran, and Jerry Headley.
