Harlen Dean Weitzel, 78, of Sterling passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 in Sterling. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Friday, December 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor James Nash officiating. A 2nd Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 20th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riverton with the Reverend Dave Magruder officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Riverton, Wyoming. Visitation will be held 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 9th at Davis Funeral Home.

Harlen was born on February 3, 1935 in Henry, Nebraska to Alex and Amelia Weitzel. Harlen graduated high school. He worked for Dick Truck Lines, Mid West Coast Trucking, Mountain Empire Dairy Association, and farmed on the side. He married Darlene Fresorger on November 29, 1953 and was married until 1969. He later married Connie Marrow in October of 1971. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and loved doing activities at the Senior Citizens Center.

He loved watching sports, playing golf, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends, especially coffee time with his buddies.

He is survived by sister Wilma Kisling and husband Scott; children Cindy Pennington and husband Bob, Roxann Edwards and husband Jim, Darla Stevens and husband Jim, Denise Gerk and husband Steve; grandchildren Ryan Pennington, Erin Weber (Pennington), Bobbi Archuleta (Edwards), Jamie West (Edwards), Roy Edwards, Jason Weitzel, Chris Gerk, Tyler Gerk, Jeremy Gerk, Lynlee Gerk, Spencer Gerk, Kyle Gerk; 8 great-grandchildren and special friend Sharon Fritzler.

He was preceded in death by his wife Connie, parents Alex and Amelia Weitzel, brother LaVern Weitzel.
