Funeral services for Leroy Shakespeare, 75, will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 17th, at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Father Phil Wagner officiating. Interment will follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2014 at St. Stephens Catholic Church with a wake to follow at the family home, 101 Goes In Lodge Road.

He died February 11, 2014 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wy.

He was born March 13, 1938, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, son of John and Nellie (Friday) Shakespeare.

He was an active member of the Catholic Church and celebrated the traditional ways and ceremonies.

His family said that Leroy was very talented drum maker, artist, cartoonist and guitar player. He liked to tell jokes, stories and enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash songs. Leroy liked to run around, even though he had only one leg. He enjoyed bingo, basketball, riding horses, rodeo, boxing and training those for boxing. He liked to watch westerns, cruise around, helping others, fishing, camping and loved animals, especially dogs. He was known as “Cowboy Lee” to his friends. Leroy was known for giving crazy knick names to his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed speaking in his Native language, but also knew how to speak Sioux, Spanish and Crowe.

Survivors include his children, Rhonda Fae Headley and her husband, Leo Headley, Jr., Glenda Mona Moss, Germaine Susan Shakespeare and Lonny P. Shakespeare; sisters, Bernice Watan, Jessie L. Spoonhunter, Alene Shakespeare, Amy Underwood, Lettie J. Spoonhunter, Ruth Mary Goggles and Delight O’Neil; brothers, Kenneth Bobby Shakespeare, George West, and Hugh Ridgely; grandchildren, Jaqouia Headley, Leigh Marie Headley, Lekeshia Headley, Jennifer Rose Shakespeare, Mitchell Moss, Deidre Moss, Kaylo Moss, Kendall Moss, III, Shilo Simon John Shakespeare, Lashelle Shakespeare, Laquan Shakespeare, and Lamont Shakespeare; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Shakespeare was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce Marie Blackburn, infant daughter, Germaine Susie Shakespeare, sons, Kenneth Dewayne Shakespeare, Sr. and Leroy Curtis Shakespeare, Jr., brother, O’dell Russell Shakespeeare, grandson, Shane Derek Moss, Jay D. Spoonhunter, brothers, Nickerson, Shakespeare and Glenn Irvin “Big Rock” Shakespeare, nephews, Darwin Spoonhunter, Sr. and Stanley Spoonhunter, Jr., grandchildren, Kraci Mahlon Spoonhunter, Theron Spoonhunter, Stanley West Shakespeare and Elizabeth Dodge, brothers-in-law, Stanley Spoonhunter, Sr., Vincent Underwood, Sr., Jesse Birdshead, Herman Norse and Simon Blackman, sisters-in-law, Anastacia Blackburn, Lucy Blackburn, Martina Bull and Mae Norse.
