Graveside services for Irene Ruth (Wampler, Hawks) Bloomquist, 95, will be held 330 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2015 at Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Echo Klaproth officiating. Her life stories will be shared at her favorite restaurant, Svilars in Hudson, Wyoming 6:00 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Bloomquist died at the Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton, Wyoming Friday, July 17, 2015. Irene was born May 11, 1920, in Riverton, the daughter to Willard and Agnes (Johnson) Wampler.

She graduated from Riverton High School in 1939 and began a 40-year career with Mountain Bell Telephone Company.

She married Carl Andrew Hawks in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1942. They moved to Riverton after the war and had two girls: Karla Noreen and Lynne Rae.

“Rene” was involved in many organizations: AM. Legion, Job Daughters, Eastern Star, Junior Women and 4H. She enjoyed Bridge and she and Carl loved dancing.

She divorced in 1965 and moved to Casper and on to Cheyenne with the phone company.

She married Clarence Bloomquist while in Cheyenne in 1979, where she later retired. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining and painting.

April 17, 1955, she was baptized at the Riverton United Methodist Church.

She has spent the last 10 years in Riverton.

Survivors include her children; Karla (Al Peterson) Hawks, Lynne (Jerry) Hawk, and step-daughter, Georgia Bloomquist; grandchildren, Jeff Cornelius, Brad (Angie) Cornelius, and Brian (Linda) Cornelius of Nebraska. Grandchildren also include LeAnn (Nathan) Nidiffer of Colorado Springs and Jason (Bonnie) Hawk of Riverton, Larry Dean (Lupe) Bloomquist of Texas and Trisha (Jered) Eskam of Nebraska; 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and her brothers, Homer Wampler, Pete Wheeler (adopted), and sisters, Bertha Tayler, Blanche Fenny, Alene Hays, Thelma Cross and Leona Cook; step-son, Larry Bloomquist.
