Levina Dorothy Gambler, 79, of Arapahoe, died at her daughter’s home on Thursday, July 23, 2015. A rosary will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Arapahoe School Gym at 7;00 pm, with the wake to follow at 1284 17 Mile Road. The funeral service will be on Monday, July 27, 2015, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at 10:00 am with Father Phil Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at YellowCalf Cemetery.

Levina Dorothy Whiteplume was born on August 3, 1935 in Ethete, WY to Benjamin and Katie (Shakespeare) Whiteplume. She grew up on the Wind River Reservation eventually settling in Arapahoe.

She was baptized into the Catholic Faith.

On February 16, 1963, she married Charles R. Gambler, Sr. at the St, Stephen’s Catholic Church. They made their home in Arapahoe where they raised their children.

She worked at LRC as a computer tech, a cook for the Arapaho Ranch, and then as the Arapaho Language teacher at Arapahoe Charter and Immersion.

She loved to watch LMN and westerns, take care of her grandchildren, traveling, Pow-Wow’s, rodeos, basketball games and Sundance.

She is survived by her daughters, Charlene (Don) Gambler-Brown, Linda (Jim) Large, and Sarah Runningshield; her son, Don (Pam) Gambler; her sisters, Susan (Bill) Crazythunder, Sandra Brown, Shirley (Ed Sr.) NotAfraid, and Ruth Goggles; her brothers, Al Willow, Orlando (ruth) Armajo, Louis (Rhonda) Armajo, and Burnett (Ruby); her grandchildren, Doug (Sharmayne) Brown, Bendetta (Sam) Friday, Katie Large, J.D. Large, Perci (George) Runningshield, Ben (Kayla) Runningshield, and Ira (Alana) Runningshield; her great grandchildren, Danaisha Brown, Dandi Skye, Siona Moon, Corbin Warren, Trinidad Warren, Kodah Warren, Aniyah Chavis, Nevaeh Large, Tristan Large, Pierce Goggles, Khani Goggles, Ramiah White, Benjamin Duran, Benjamin Jr., Taya Duran, Arron Large, and Amirue Large; her great great grandchildren, Noah Antelope, Shyanne Antelope, Nickolie Antelope and Skyla Antelope; her other grandchildren, Clarissa Fridahy, Veronica (Paul) Gambler, Donna Gambler, Daryl (Polly) Gambler, Dawn Mitchell, and David, Jr.; her other great grandchildren, Colin Jr. and Quentin Friday, Alana Daw, Grayson Daw, Deja, Tawny, SkyRae, Dakotah Redman, Tataivna Gambler, Sierra, Dawnte Gambler, Devon Gambler, Evalynn Rosalie Gambler. Erika, Shawn Jr., Orlando, Wylan, Jessi-Rae, Sunshine Howell, Cori Wallowingbull, Beaver C’Bearing, and Tweety (Wayne) Norse; her grandchildren, Missy Hutchinson, Houston Wiilow, Audrelia Jenkins, Enik Jenkins, Ray Felter, Morning Dawn, Jolene and Henry Alberts, and Raymond McKing; the families of Whiteplumes, Gamblers, Quivers, Shakespeares, Willows, C/Bearings, NotAfraids, and Bear Claws.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Katie Whiteplume; her husband, Charles “Chuck” Gambler, Sr.; her sons, David, Dean, Dallas, Darwin, Darryl, and Benjamin George; her daughters, Flora Silverhorn, Karen Noon, Emma C’Bearing, and Donna Kay Gambler; her granddaughter, Kathy Silverhorn; her grandson, Verdell Large; and granddaughter, Fatima Large.
