Edward Simcox, Sr., 85, of Riverton, died on Monday, September 7, 2015, at his home. No services are planned.

Edward Eugene Simcox was born on July 18, 1930 in Downington, PA to Charles Franklin and Emma (Brown) Simcox. He was one of 11 children and was raised in Westchester, PA where he attended a one room school house.

He entered the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from March of 1950 to January of 1953. He was honorably discharged and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star as well as other accolades. On February 12, 1955, he married Betty Annith Perkins in Westchester, PA. They had two sons and lived in suburban Philadelphia, PA.

After he returned from the Army he opened and operated an auto repair shop. After years of having the shop he then went to work for Wolfington Body Co. where he was a mechanic and worked on school buses, limousines, ambulances, and hearses.

He moved to Riverton in 2007 to be closer to family and enjoy his retirement.

His family said that he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and spending time outdoors.

He was a member of the V.F.W., and a life member of North American Hunting Club and N.R.A.

He is survived by his sons, Richard “Rick” Simcox and his wife, Cindy of Riverton, WY and Edward Simcox, Jr. and his wife, Tracy of Dowingtown, PA; his brothers, Walter Simcox and Steve Simcox both of Downingtown, PA; and his five grandchildren, Edward R. Simcox, Patty Coughlin, Tanya Howe, Jackque Wazzelle and Jenna Simcox and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Simcox; his parents, Charles and Emma Simcox; his brothers, Richard, Elwood, and Charlie Simcox; and his sisters, Stella Ray, Sara Rogers, Eleanor Ranck, Alice Alberts, and Marion Albright.
