Brett Wingert, 42, of Anchorage, AK died on Friday, March18, 2016, in Alaska. A memorial services was held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, in Anchorage. A private family gathering will take place in Wyoming later this summer.

Brett Alan Wingert was born on September 4, 1973 in Riverton, WY to Edward Alan Wingert and Cara Ann Johnson. When he was young his parents divorced and his mother remarried Rick Heckert whom raised him from the age of four until he graduated. When he was twelve the family moved to Alaska and he finished school there, graduating from Nikiski High School in Nikiski, AK. He attended BYU of Idaho studying Business.

Brett was a Christian and had a strong belief.

On February 28, 1998, he married Lori Martinez in Anchorage, AK. They later divorced.

He worked in the Anchorage school system at Mount Iliamna Elementary as an Intervention Coach and thoroughly enjoyed his job. He loved fishing and basketball. He matched his love of basketball and children by becoming a basketball coach.

He is survived by his children, Chasen Wingert, Spencer Wingert, and Alexis Wingert; father and step-mother, Edward and Janice Wingert; mother and step-father, Cara and Eligah Barrett; step-father, Rick Heckert; brothers, Parker Heckert and Scotty Heckert; sisters, Michelle (Roger) Risinger; Janice Heckert, Dawn Wingert, and Chelsea (Jeremy) Case; aunts and uncles, Mike (Anna) Wingert, Joe (Sandi) Wingert, Mary (Mel) Rosenberg, Robert (Kathy) Wingert, James (Raedell) Wingert, Pat (Larry) Spiars, Mike Johnson, and Myra Johnson; and serveral nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Dorothy Wingert and Jerry and Viola Johnson; uncle, Danny Johnson; aunt, Sharon Johnson; brother-in-law, Glenn Martinez; and niece, Jessica Finlayson-Shepard.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 West Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
