Nancy Jane Spoonhunter of Arapahoe died in an auto accident on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at the age of 34. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church south of Riverton with the Rev. Father Dan Gannon officiating. Interment will follow at the family cemetery. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton, followed by a wake at the home of Howard Spoonhunter, 1296 Shotgun Lane. A second rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at St. Stephen's Church. A wake will follow at the home of Madeline Spoonhunter, 1234 17 Mile Road. Nancy Jane Spoonhunter was born in Riverton on Nov. 16, 1973, the daughter of Howard Adam Spoonhunter and Madeline (Addison) Spoonhunter. She was a homemaker and life-long resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation. A member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Ms. Spoonhunter was active in Indian ceremonies. She attended AA, participated in the sun dance, helped take care of other people, liked to play basketball with her brothers. Her family said she enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her children and friends, and loved to cook. Survivors include eight children, Quinn Duran, Maurice Duran, Adam Spoonhunter, Shane Spoonhunter, Nathaniel Spoonhunter, Quavin Spoonhunter, Byrdie Lou Shotgun, and Constance Shotgun; her parents, Madeline Spoonhunter and Howard Spoonhunter; brother, Burdick Seminole, Sr., Stephen Seminole and Ryan Siminole; sisters, Stephanie Spoonhunter, Carol Spoonhunter, Johnetta Seminole, Terri Seminole, and Suzette Seminole. She was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Spoonhunter; grandparents, Ward and Margaret Spoonhunter, Burdick and Susie Addison; numerous other relatives.
