Wanita Cornett, 79 of Riverton, WY passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness. There are no services scheduled at this time. Wanita requested that there be a joint memorial service for her and Heath to be held in the Spring of 2019, in Thermopolis, WY.

Wanita Florence Floyd was born on June 28, 1939 in Billings, MT to Oscar “Buck” Leon Floyd and Helen Anetta (Schellsmidt) Floyd Dobson. She grew up as an only child. She graduated from Thermopolis High School in Thermopolis, WY.

On January 23, 1960 she married, Heath Herman Cornett. They lived all over Wyoming before moving to Denver, CO and then to Kansas City for 25 years before moving back to Wyoming and settling in Riverton where they lived for over 30 years.

She worked at many different places including, Imperial Palace, Alameda Plaza, Pony Express, Arapahoe Elementary School, and Pertech Resources.

She was a member of the State Mineral and Gem Society, Arapahoe Homemakers, took classes on photography, loved going to auctions and the casino, enjoyed playing cards, with the “girls” and was active in the Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Anita (Ed) McWilliams of Kansas City, MO, Brett Thompson of Spearfish, SD, Heath (Teri) Cornett of Blair NE, and Claudia Cornett of Jefferson City, MO; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar “Buck” Floyd and Helen Dobson, and husband Heath Cornett.
