John Lee Tyler, 69, formerly of Fremont County died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 in El Paso, Texas with his daughter, Alma caring for him. A Rosary and Wake will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Great Plains Hall. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.

John Lee Tyler was born August 17, 1949 in Riverton, Wyoming to Henry Lee and Cecelia (Addison) Tyler. He grew up in the Mill Creek area attending schools and attended Kicking Horse Job Corps in Montana.

He married Lynette Lawrence. The couple had seven kids together before divorcing.

John spent the majority of his life in Salt Lake City and Northern California. He moved with his daughter to El Paso, Texas.

He was a certified carpenter, a traditional man, which was passed down from his family - partaking in Native American Church activities including peyote ceremonies and traveling to gather medicine.

He is survived by his seven children, Jr., Willie, Marcus, Ben, Cecilia, Trudy, and Gloria Tyler of Red Lake, Minnesota; daughter, Alma Sosa; sisters, Ramona Tyler Cesspooch, Alberta Tyler Little, Alvena Headley, and Joanne Wolfrang Tucker; and nephew Ryan Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Henry Lee (NightHorse) Tyler, Sr. and Amelia HungryWolf; brothers, Clarence Tyler, Sr., Franklin James Tyler, and Leonard Thomas Tyler; sister, Arlene Rose Tyler. On-line condolences may be made to the family at TheDavisFuneralHome.com
