Russell Clarence Davidson was born on December 25, 1941 in Merced, CA. to Clarence Oliver and Elsie May (Richards) Davidson. After his parents divorced, he lived with them at different times and places. He spent his high school years in Kemmerer, WY where he attended high school.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

While growing up he loved working on the family Ranch in Jackson Hole in the summers. There he spent most days on horseback. While at the ranch he and his half-brother trained an orphaned elk they found on the ranch. Later they entered it in the cutter horse sled races in Jackson Hole and had so much fun. He also spent time riding bulls in rodeos.

After graduation he moved to California to live with his mother and work. It was there, on a blind date, he met the love of his life, Diana Ruth Sass, and were soon married, February 2, 1962, in San Leandro, CA. Nine months later their first son was born, and they named him Wayne Russell. Not long after they moved to Wyoming and ended up working on a seismograph crew which caused their family to move several times living in Colorado and Wyoming. While living in Buffalo Wyoming their second son, William Andrew was born. They settled in Rock Springs Wyoming in time for their oldest child to start school. From then on Russ mostly worked as a truck driver. By 1976 the family had moved to Riverton Wyoming.

Russell’s early adult years he loved to race motorcycles on cross country tacks, having more fun than wins. Later Russell and Diana enjoyed touring all over the United States on a motorcycle every summer prior to Diana’s death. The two had never been closer. He enjoyed many hobbies which included RC airplanes, model trains, painting, flight simulator, war history, camping, and fishing. He was a charter member of the Riverton Motorcycle Club.
