Thomas "Tommy" Lopez of Riverton died Saturday evening, June 27, 2009, at Riverton Memorial Hospital. He was 63. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Thomas Lopez was born in Mission, Texas, on Jan. 12, 1946, the son of Pablo Lopez, Sr., and Caroline (Garcia) Lopez. He moved to Riverton at the age of 18. He married Theresa Bruce in Thermopolis on Oct. 17, 1995. She survives. Mr. Lopez worked as a laborer for 32 years the City of Riverton in the streets and alleys department and retired on May 18, 2007. When he received his 30-year certificate, he was the second longest employee of the City of Riverton. His family said Mr. Lopez was proud of his yard, loved to ride his motorcycle, enjoyed fishing, camping, painting, lawns, and gardening. He was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Riverton. Survivors include his wife Theresa Bruce Lopez of Riverton; a daughter, LeAnn Holguin and her husband David of Glendale, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Amanda Holguin; brothers, Pablo Lopez, Jr., Henry Lopez, Robert Lopez, Ramiao Lopez, and Luciao Lopez; sisters, Lucy Aceves, Maria Martinez, Caroline Baldes, Juanita Barajas, and Sarah Vigil; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Esperanza "Mary" Lopez.
