Arthur E. "Art" Meyer

Arthur E. Meyer died at his Riverton home on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton with interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.

There will be a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home.

Arthur Earl Meyer was born in Laramie on Feb 29, 1928, the son of Fred and Ruth (Beutler) Meyer. He grew up on the family ranch outside of Medicine Bow, was graduated from high school in Laramie, having to leave home to attend high school.

On March 26, 1950, he married Marjorie Freese in Casper.

Mr. Meyer worked in the oil fields as a rough neck, tool pusher, and driller.

They came to Riverton in 1955 and he had a pioneer hunting and fishing license.

His family said Mr. Meyer was a hard worker and family man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, carpentry, building, tinkering and putting things back together, was an avid reader, who enjoyed a good practical joke.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Riverton; son, Rex Duane Meyer and wife Lynn of Milton-Freewater, Oregon; daughter, Janice Marie Tharp of Casper; grandchildren, Francine, Amanda, Karl, Regina, and Marjorie; five great grandchildren; a brother, Karl Meyer of Douglas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Eleshuk, and daughter, Elaine Lanier on July 29, 2009.
