Kirby Shanafelt, 69, of Riverton passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held this summer.

Kirby Neil Shanafelt was born on July 24, 1954 in Billings, MT to Loren and Betty (Metzker) Shanafelt. He was one of four boys, and he grew up in Montana, Wyoming, and Texas. He graduated from Riverton High School. He graduated from Billings Automotive Technical School and attended Odessa College.

He was a master electrician, mechanic, and worked in construction. He also owned his own electrical business, Kirby Shanafelt Inc. where he worked with his brothers, Jerry and Brian. He also worked for ExxonMobil for more than 20 years in various roles including electrician and plant operator.

Kirby could fix almost anything and loved working in the yard or on home improvement projects. He also loved cars and riding motorcycles with his friends and brother, Brian.

He is survived by his wife, Tammi (Heard) Shanafelt, his three daughters Ariel Beebe and her husband, Bruce, of Sierra Vista, AZ, and their children Oshua, Orion, and Skylar; Amy Batista and her husband, Jason, and their son Delano of Midland, TX; Amber Myers of Austin, TX; his brother, Brian Shanafelt of Levelland, TX, and his children, Chelsie, Koby, Ashlyn, and Noah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Betty Shanafelt, and brothers Jerry Ray Shanafelt and Marvin Keith Shanafelt.
