Loretta B. Smith of Dubois died on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Wind River Healthcare in Riverton. She was 97. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Loretta Bernice Wentz was born in Plevina, Mont., on April 4, 1913, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Killbough) Wentz. She grew up in Casper and was graduated from Natrona High School there. She married Gale F. Smith after meeting him at a dance near Casper. They raised their family in Dubois. Mrs. Smith was a cook in the restaurant business, working at various establishments. She was a member of the Top of the World Extension Club at Dubois. Her family said Mrs. Smith enjoyed playing pinochle at the Senior Center in Dubois. Mr. and Mrs. Smith had enjoyed rock hunting together, along with hunting and fishing, metal detecting, and gold panning. They wintered in Arizona and the family said they loved stopping at lakes to fish while en route. Mrs. Smith is survived by twin daughters, Vonna Smith and Bonna Hehnke, both of Dubois; son-in-law, LeRoy McCully of Casper: 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gale F. Smith; a daughter, Veta Jo McCully of Casper; a son, Ronald W. Smith of Dubois; three brothers and five sisters, and a son-in-law, Howard "Bud" Hehnke.
