My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of profound sadness. I want you all to know that Darren made me a better person, as he taught me to live more courageously. Hardy Deming - 3/4/2008

Dear Rebecca and Hal:
I have no idea what to say, but I wanted you to know we are praying for you and your family. When a child is taken home so soon, it is so heartbreaking. I hope you can find some comfort in Psalm 23, in knowing that he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. He will never have to fear or hurt again. "The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart, devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death."

Our children are God's children that he has put in our care for however long. God knows our timing even before we are born. We don't understand timing, but we do know that death is a part of every life. As Christians, we know that we will reunite and live happily eternally with our loved ones in the presence of our Father in Heaven.

"The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." Praying for your strength and comfort.

When I found out he died, I didn't cry. I was in shock. I didn'i take my chance on becoming Darrens
Friend. I only talked to him once, but not as a Friend. I truly wanted to be his friend, but know I missed that chance. So I hope you know I still care about your loss, and I want to be there for you. I'll miss him, and always remember Darren. May God Be with you! I love you Darren.

Darren's family:

Darren was a good friend of mine. People keep telling me that things will get better, that the pain will slowly fade, but I don't care if the pain goes away. If feeling pain is the only way I can feel connected to Darren, I'll take it. I couldn't stop crying all Monday (the day I found out). Later that day Casey and Gaylen came over to my house. Your family is truly strong, and I envy that. I know that Darren helped save the lives of 6 people, but I just want to see him agian. I know that I can't possibly know what you're going through, but I just wanted you to know that I am going through a lot of similar emotions. I know that Darren is still with us in spirit. I will never forget him. My heart will always hold him close. I suppose you simply must think of all the good that he accomplished, all of the lives he changed. Know that he's in a better place now, and that he's no longer in pain. That's the only way I make it through the day.

Jayden Myers - 3/4/2008

Rebecca I am so very sorry to hear about Darren. I am so glad that he accepted the Lord into his life and take comfort in knowing that he is safe in the arms of Jesus. I will pray for strength and healing in this difficult time for you and your family. I love you and wish that you were closer to just hold you and comfort you. Love Danni

Jim and family,
Having very recently losing my father to the bright hope of heaven, I want to share with you how much
the words from friends and family helped me. Hold those words close to you. Read them and know that they are meant with such sincerity and caring. Darren, as my dad, knows all the answers to so many questions we all have of heaven. Until we see our loved ones again, we feel the sorrow, cry tears, hold each other close, and eventually keep living. I know God will be holding your hands through all of this.

Letter to Mom

by Joy Curnutt

Mom, please don’t feel guilty
It was just my time to go.
I see you are still feeling sad,
And the tears just seem to flow.

We all come to earth for our lifetime,
And for some it’s not many years
I don’t want you to keep crying
You are shedding so many tears.

I haven’t really left you
Even though it may seem so.
I have just gone to my heavenly home,
And I’m closer to you than you know.

Just believe that when you say my name
I’m standing next to you,
I know you long to see me,
But there’s nothing I can do.

But I’ll still send you messages
And hope you understand,
That when your time comes to “cross over,”
I’ll be there to take your hand.

Jim-
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I wish we could be there with you. You're an amazing man that raised an amazing son. To save lives on this earth when the one you loved is being taken away from you takes a special person. You have always thought of others ahead of yourself and I'm sure that was reflected in Darren as well. My God bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you and grant you his peace.

With Love

I didn't know Darren very well. But I think almost everybody knew who he was; his smile was famous and infectious. If I saw him walking down the halls, just passing by him made me feel happier. His smile was so bright, it lit up everything. A star must have burned out the other night; God needed Darren to light it up again.

Dear Jim and Familyk,

My heart goes out to all of you and I will continue to pray that God will hold you all close and give you comfort. I bet there is one big party in heaven with Grandpa, Bill, Erin, Lori, Brad and lots of other family members standing with Jesus to welcome Darren home. Even knowing where he is still doesn't take away the pain from our hearts but just remember all of the good times and all of the people that you have helped donating his organs. You have blessed so many families with your kindness.

Love and God Bless all of you!

These tragic moments are not easy for us to understand, but God has His
purposes and some day we will understand. Keep your faith in God, and He
will see us through. All of you are in my prayers every day.

If the measure of a person is the grief others feel at his absence, Darren was a tremendous young man. His classmates and I miss him deeply. May God comfort you with his loving presence.

The Collins Family,
I just wanted to share with you that you are in our hearts and prayers. My son, Justin, enjoyed Darren's company on the YoungLife ski trip. We just cannot imagine how hard this is. My God give you the peace that only he can bestow.
In Love,

Becky,

Just wanted to let you know that you are in our thoughts & prayers. It seems a terrible tragedy for your son to leave so soon in his young life. It is such a loss to family and friends, but God's grace and comfort is sufficient to see you through these days of sorrow. In our eyes we may not see right now, but in His time He will bring good from this loss.

I think you remember me, I remember when you were just a little girl back in Asheboro. Your family has been gone so long but we still miss you.

May God bless each of your family at this time. Give our thoughts and prayers to your Dad & mother.

In Love & Sympathy,

James & Martha Bundy

We want you know that our thoughts are with you during these the worst of times. Pat and Patty Collins are such great grandparents to the kids in Shoshoni School it just makes no sense how something like this could happen to their own grandson. Our sympathy to all of the family members, it will be hard and will take time, we lost a brother at a young age 18 years ago you will never forget but do go on.

Mr. Collins & Family,
Darren was a person who was just plain fun to be around. He always had a smile or something funny to say for any occasion; He was always ready to help someone if they needed something. His lost will be felt everyday. I'm really going to miss him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you,

Jim and Family,

We are so very sorry for the great loss of your son, brother, grandson, and friend! I know Darren brought much to all of those who were blessed to share in his life. I'll always remember his smile, and the determined look on his face as he bombed down the ski slope with his jacket unzipped. You have been in our hearts and prayers, and please know that we are here for you!

Sincerely, Mike and Dawn Denning Family

Becky and extended family -

When we heard that Darren was airlifted to the hospital, we felt a deep saddenness that can't be explained for your family over such a tradegy. While we are many miles apart, you are still a close family member and when we see you grieving, we grieve as well for you and the family. I recall getting to meet Darren when I visited a few years ago and do recall his lovely smile. My prayers are with you and we pray for each of you daily that God will be especially close and will draw you to Him for support during this difficult time. We will never understand the "why" but can lean on Him for strength. Please know that although I can't be there in person, my heart is definitely with you and you family. If you need ANYTHING, please know that I will be ready to do whatever I can to lift your load.

Our family and church will continue to carry you and the family on our prayer list.

I love you like a sister and wish I could be there for you and do hope to get to Wyoming this year to see everyone again.

Love and many prayers.....

Jim,
There are no words that can help you with the loss of Darren, your best friend. We all love him and will miss him dearly. You have been so strong through all of this and I admire you so much for that. I know that I would not of been as strong as you are. Keep your head up and cherish all of the memories that we have with Darren. We love you very much.

Teresa LaGois - 3/8/2008

Words cannot express the amount of pain and sorrow we feel with the loss of Darren, but although he has gone and we will all eventually move on from this tragedy, he will never be forgotten. Darren was a blessing in my life and I will miss him greatly...I'm sure you feel the same way.

Dear Jim and Family: We want you to know that we have been praying for you many times each day since we heard Darren was taken to Denver. Our hearts are truly hurting for you. Dispite this hurt we know that God's plans are perfect and can know Darren is with the Lord because of his decision for Christ. Praise God! We will continue to pray that God will bring you each the comfort that only He can bring.
