Uncle Bud
I will miss you dearly and look fondly back on happier times, Barb frying donuts, the coffee pot always on, camping, tinkering with the vehicles. I truly hope you are with the ones you love now and that you and Dad are tinkering around together over a hot cup of coffee. Thanks for the memories.
My love,
Janet

Uncle Bud,
I met Uncle Bud when I was dating Janet in the early seventies. I thought Harry was so silently serious, but when I met Bud I knew that it was all about seriousness. Plus one, he was only silent until he had something to say. Harry Sr. was pretty easy going and Eleanor had fire if pushed into a corner. Bud had fire, steam, and molten lava. Depending on the situation, you might get one or you might get all three. I will miss that fire. I got invited along on some of the DuRyea's camping trips. I really enjoyed the trips and had a blast riding the dirt bikes. Of course I sucked at keeping up with the DuRyeas. I was pretty impressed that I was invited along. I'm sure I slowed him up. Bud really liked bikes and cars. Bud had this black chevelle 396 and man I sure wanted that car. I just couldn't afford it but it sure was a sweet ride! Janet had a 1968 Nova that Harry had cherried out and Janet traded it in for a 1975 3/4 ton Mexicali red Ford (New off the lot). In 1976 Janet and I lost the engine valve guides while cutting a Christmas tree above Union Pass. Bud and Harry tore into that engine and I knew then that they both were skilled mechanics. I just thought they liked bikes and cars. I found that they both loved anything with an engine. I think they loved working together too. The best part of working with them was the way they cussed like sailors but when the garage lights went off, they both were laughing as the garage door closed. I miss that working in the garage. Bud loved his family and he loved my family. I was laid off in the uranium patch and I didn't see any light at the end of the tunnel. Bud called and offered me a contract janitorial job at the Riverton State Bank. Janet and I were working at that bank long after Bud and Barb went to Colorado. When Bud left that bank I bet he didn't know that by employing Janet and me, he would also be employing Harry and Betty. I love him for that and I'm so thankful he got us all through some of our darkest times. Bud and I visited before Harry passed. Bud was still all about fire, about family and friends, and still in love with Barb and Union Pass. I was grateful that the Kobe family was so good to him! Before Bud's last days, he told me he was coming home and that we would see each other as soon as he got to the house. I'm sorry we didn't get to do that. I hope you and Barb are both together looking down from your house above Union Pass. We'll get to see you both on our way to Strawberry Creek sometime soon! Love Ya Bye! Hugh
