Evelyn L. Wunder

Wunder, Evelyn L.

Dear Mitch,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your sweet mama. I remember her as a quiet woman and always the lady. Her stature and posture are also vivid in my mind's eye. Evelyn Wunder's smile was warm and inviting. She took such pride in her home and her landscaping. Her beautiful roses running on the north side of the driveway were the talk of Riverton! I, too, am an avid flower gardener but have never had the courage to raise roses. Her peonies in shades of reds and pinks were glorious. Just viewing Evelyn's gorgeous blossoms made a person feel good. Many folks turned to your mother for advice with their own plant concerns and questions. I hope I have this next story right.....Joyce Maulik Skaggs tells that when your mother moved to the Sertoma residence she stated that she was going to have a pair of sconces on her living room wall. "Al did not want to have them before so now I am going to have them." Did she have sconces on the wall? I thought that was a cute story. Women like your mother and mine had a mighty constitution. There was no adversity that they could not overcome. With enough patience, deep faith, clever thinking and conviction, planning and preparation, any obstacle could be overcome. They were strong, proud and dedicated mothers and wives. How lucky for us to have had them as our mothers. They made our lives the best they could and they did it on a shoestring! Women like your mother are the threads of a most beautiful tapestry.
In sympathy and friendship,

Tanis
