No services will be held at this time for Rodney “Rod” Dean Shaw, 63, who died November 18, 2015 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

He was born July 8, 1952 in Riverton, Wyoming, son of Charles Wesley and June (Cunningham) Shaw.

Rod graduated with the class of 1970 from Riverton High School. He then accumulated many years of Professional Golf Association Schools.

On June 21, 1980, he married Margaret Watt at the Stoney Point Ranch in Dubois, Wyoming.

During Rod’s teenage years, he worked for his Dad at Chuck Shaw Construction. From 1986 until 1994, he worked as a Golf Professional for the Riverton Country Club. In 1996, he owned, operated and was a Golf Professional at the Renegade Golf Course until 2006. Mr. Shaw was also a self-employed Carpenter and Cabinet Maker.

Rod loved everything that involved his two boys and daughter-in-law. His family said that he also had a passion for golf and giving lessons. He enjoyed spending his time reading National Geographic magazines and watching football and golf on television.

Mr. Shaw was a member of the Professional Golf Association from 1992 until 2006. He was also a former member of the Riverton Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Watt Shaw of the family home in Riverton; sons, Benjamin Charles Shaw and his wife, Casey, of Williamsburg, VA and Brady Matthew Shaw of Oceanside, CA; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Harmon Watt of Riverton; sisters-in-law, Sue Shaw of Riverton and Sally Watt of Lander; nephew, Chuck Shaw and family of Riverton; granddog, Prince Harry and Rod’s Cat, George; many out of town relatives including aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and Rod’s life time friend, Rod Walters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Brad “Bronco” Shaw and his grandparents.

Memorials may be made to the Rocky Mountain Eye Bank to the Eye Surgery Fund, which will help provide grants to Wyoming and Colorado Lions Clubs for sight saving surgeries to disadvantaged and uninsured individuals in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 West Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
