Memorial services for Robert F. Nowlin of Riverton will be held at a later date through the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Nowlin died at Morning Star Manor at Fort Washakie on Friday night, Oct. 21, 2011, at the age of 81, following a long illness. Robert Frank Nowlin was born in Riverton on March 27, 1930, the son of Bruce and Harriet Nowlin. He grew up in the Burris, Crowheart, and Dubois areas of Fremont County. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army, where he received the Purple Heart. After returning to Wyoming, he married Phyllis Taylor of Dubois. Mr. Nowlin was a professional truck driver, which, according to his family, fulfilled a teenage dream. Mr. Nowlin had lived in Riverton with his son, Rob Nowlin, for many years. He is survived by his wife, Pat of New Mexico; two sons, Rob of Riverton and Scott of Salt Lake City, Utah; a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Nowlin of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Peggy May of Riverton and Carol Schaeffer of Paulden, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Nowlin; mother, Harriet Nowlin; brother, Buz Nowlin; sister, Teensy Hague; four half sisters and one half brother.
