Teri Jean Van Etten

Teri Jean Van Etten, 61, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Riverton.
Teri was born on April 25, 1964, in Rawlins, Wyoming, to Larry Van Etten and Mary Sisneros. She grew up in Rawlins and later attended Central Wyoming College in Riverton, where she studied Social Work. Teri dedicated her career to helping others as a social worker for the Arapaho Tribe.
She lived most of her life in Riverton and loved the outdoors—especially fishing, camping, and spending time in the mountains. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Teri was also an active participant in the 1838 Rendezvous and traveled to various Mountain Man Rendezvous events throughout the summer, where she was affectionately known as “Medicine Rose.” She loved beading and sharing her craft with others.
Teri is survived by her daughter, Deena Van Etten; bonus daughter, Kaylee Torres; grandchildren, Julian, Jeremiah, Aaliyah, Dayne, Adrian, Alicia, Destiny, Antonio, Atilano, Santiago, and Jose Jr.; stepbrothers, Joseph Van Etten and Waposta Cikala (Posh) Van Etten; and sister, Mandy Van Etten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Van Etten and Mary Sisnero, and her sons, Jose Anthony Van Etten and Michael Baca Jr.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal services will be held. A celebration of her life will be held with her family at a later date.
