Private family services will be held for Helen Montagne, 93 of Shoshoni, Wyoming, who passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on Friday, October 17, 2025 where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter and granddaughter.
She was born on March 19, 1932 in Lovell, Wyoming to Isaac and Lottie Skidmore. She grew up and attended school in Gridley, California.
Helen married Leon Campbell in October of 1951. They later relocated to Washington and eventually settled in Utah. Helen was a devoted homemaker who always took loving care of her family and her home. Helen and Leon had three children Phillip, Phyllis, and Marilyn. They were her greatest joy.
Helen loved spending time with her family in the outdoors. She also loved to crochet, and sew making many of her children’s clothes in their younger years. She would also make animal pillows for the children at the Shriner’s hospitals. Helen took pleasure in gardening, and had a beautiful garden and fruit trees that she would can and make jams.
Traveling was something she would do any time she could. Some of her favorite places to go was visiting family in California, Oregon, and Washington, and always stopped for some fun in Reno. After the loss of her husband, Leon she spent time in Florida with life-long friends, and moved to be in the warm weather, sunshine, and the beach. She found love and companionship again with Robert Montagne. The couple spent years making each other happy, and were married in January of 2003. He sadly passed away in January of 2004.
Helen later settled back in Wyoming to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter where she was always surrounded with love and care.
Survivors include her son, Phillip Campbell and his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Marilyn Stalinski; grandchildren, Brandy Dugdale, Phillip Campell, Jason Campbell, and Catrina Craig and her husband, Brian; her brother, Fenton W. Skidmore of Missouri and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Montagne was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Loretta Campbell-Clements; husbands, Leon Campbell and Robert Montagne; her parents, Isaac and Lottie Skidmore; sisters, Opal Skidmore-Green and Doris Schohr and brother, Armon Skidmore.
