Gwyn Theresa C’Bearing, Niieihiihotii Hisei (“Eagle Woman”), passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones after a long illness. She was born on April 29, 1952, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, to Aloysius C’Bearing and Bernice E. O’Neal-Jenkins.
She was baptized into the Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Gwyn raised her family in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Henderson, Nevada, and the Wind River Reservation and attended schools at St. Stephen’s, Flandreau, Kansas, and later attending Haskell Junior College.
Throughout her life, Gwyn worked as a cook, housekeeper, and an electrical assembler. She took great pride in her work and in caring for her family. Gwyn loved being a mother and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed doing puzzles, beading—creating many beautiful moccasins for her nephews and grandchildren—She also loved slicing game meat that her sons harvested, She also enjoyed cooking, and playing darts. In her younger years, she was active in basketball, track, and cross country. Later in life, she enjoyed running and playing softball, skiing, racquetball, tennis, camping, and other outdoor activities. She especially loved watching her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren participate in sports. She also enjoyed watching movies and occasionally trying her luck gambling.
She is survived by her sons, Pat (Brenda) Hubbard, Al Hubbard, Julian (Jolene) Hubbard, Robert D. C’Bearing, Wade Ghostbear, Jason Bell, and Vidale C’Bearing; daughters, Jillian Lee C’Bearing and Aloysa C’Bearing; adopted daughters, Valwrena Jenkins, Stacia Brown, Nelida Mendoza, and Martha Addison; brothers, Robert C’Bearing, Darrell O’Neal, Chester Addison, Raymond Addison, Freeman Blackburn, Butch Bearing, Andy Bearing, Bryan Groesbeck Sr., and Clarence Jenkins; sisters, Caroline Hill, Jenny Brown, Bunny Oldman, Gloria C’Bearing, Kat Warren, Pauline Polen, Polly Redfield, Mary Arthur, Kenzie Lopez, Molly O’Neal, Suzie O’Neal, Lou Oldman, Maxine Trosper, Clara Blackburn, and Lynell Shakespeare; grandchildren, Shanda Lee, Lolena, Aquilo, Auree, Jaeleah, Ali, Carl, Jr., Vincent, Ryder, Carlissa, Xavier, Julian, Jr., Xiana AuroraLee, Stephan, Jess, Tyrus, Lyla Theresa Lee; great grandchildren, Yaden, Leon, Adonis, Athena Everleigh, Carson, and Cassius, and the families of C’Bearing, O’Neal, Shakespeare, Jenkins, Brown, Bearing, Oldman, Blackburn, Ghostbear, Bell, and Brannan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius C’Bearing and Bernice Jenkins; daughter, Yavonda Lee Hubbard-Kalama; and siblings and loved ones Aloysius C’Bearing Sr., Vidale C’Bearing Sr., Anthony “Al” Addison Sr., Jubal Jenkins, Charlene O’Neil, Belinda Warren, Judy Warren, Annette O’Neal, Robert A. C’Bearing, and Jeffrey “J.C.” Brown.

A Vigil Service with a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Eagle Hall with dinner to follow.
A wake will follow at the family home, 1518 Elmwood Drive. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery. A feast will follow at Great Plains Hall.
