Jack Dean Weliever
October 3, 1949 – November 14, 2025
Jack Dean Weliever, 76, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at his home. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring or summer of 2026.
Jack was born on October 3, 1949, in Riverton, Wyoming, to Jearld and Threaese (Wempen) Weliever. He grew up in Pavillion and graduated from Pavillion High School with the Class of 1968, where he was a standout basketball player and also competed in track. He later attended Central Wyoming College, playing basketball there as well.
In 1968, Jack married and became the proud father of five daughters. A hardworking man throughout his life, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in road construction, contributing to the creation of many roads still traveled today. He also spent time working in roofing, logging, and farming. Over the years, he made his home in Wyoming for 70 years, Nevada for five years, and Arkansas for one year.
Jack enjoyed sports, especially basketball, and rarely missed a chance to watch a game—whether in person or on television—with his children. He was a Denver Broncos fan. He was always willing to lend a hand to his family on their farms and loved spending time outdoors. Fishing was one of his greatest joys, and he welcomed anyone who wanted to join him. He also enjoyed hunting elk and deer and took pride in tending to his large garden, generously sharing its bounty with others.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Shauna Allen, Shirley Weliever, Shalene Barrera, Jackie Weliever, and Jennie Oetken; his brothers, Daniel Weliever and Raymond Weliever; his sister, Rose Guillen; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jearld Weliever; mother, Threaese Weliever; stepmother, Margaret Weliever; sisters, Geraldine Weliever, Minnie Schneider, and Gertrude Ditton; and brother, Frank Weliever.
