A memorial service for Victor “Lee” Giles, Sr., 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Davis Funeral Home. Military Honors will be accorded by the Wyoming Army National Guard. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Wilson, Wyoming. Mr. Giles passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Riverton, Wyoming.
Victor “Lee” Giles, Sr., was born on December 11, 1933, in Jackson, Wyoming, to Victor H. and Mildred (Stilson) Giles. He was raised in Jackson Hole and attended local schools before proudly serving in the United States Army. Lee was honorably discharged in 1962.
On June 16, 1954, Lee married Ellen Lajeunesse in Jackson, Wyoming. In 1978, the couple made their home in Johnstown Valley, where they remained for the rest of their lives together. For more than 15 years, Lee owned and operated stagecoach operations and riding stables in several locations throughout Jackson. His life was deeply rooted in horsemanship; he enjoyed chariot racing, team penning, and racing horses. Lee also worked for many years as a big game outfitter and guide before fulfilling his calling as a cattle rancher.
Lee had a deep love for the outdoors and for hunting, and in his younger years he enjoyed traveling to Oklahoma, California, and Georgia. He believed strongly that every child should have the opportunity to grow up with a horse. He was a proud member of the Hound Dog Association.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Ellen Giles of Johnstown Valley; son, Buck (Dawn) Giles of Pavillion; daughters, Vicki (Chester Pingree) Giles of Fort Washakie and Terri (Gary) Carroll of Hudson, Wy; grandchildren, Autumn, Ashley, Ross and Taylor; 7 great grandchildren.
Mr. Giles was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Shockly; father, Victor Giles; son, Dalles Giles; daughter, Leslie Giles; sisters, Mary Murdock and Joanne Gavin.
