Dixie passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming.

Born on January 26, 1936, in Casper, Dixie was the beloved daughter of Jess M. and Martha B. (Baumont) McCash. She attended Natrona County High School.

On May 23, 1953, Dixie married the love of her life, Martin E. Nelson, in Casper. Together, they built a life rooted in hard work, adventure, and family. Due to Martin’s career, the couple moved to Riverton, Wyoming, where they proudly owned and operated Gales Home Furnishings. In addition to being a business owner, Dixie devoted herself to her family as a homemaker and housekeeper outside the home.

She later married Shorty Marrou and lived in Parker and Wickenburg, Arizona, where they enjoyed their retirement.  Following Shorty’s passing, Dixie returned to Casper to live with her daughter and devoted caretaker, Cynde, where she was surrounded by love and comfort.

Dixie had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and treasured time spent boating, fishing, and camping. Above all else, she cherished moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.

She also spent countless hours involved in her community, holding active memberships in the Riverton Rendezvous Balloon Rally Club, Riverton Railroaders, Soroptimist Club, and the Women’s Auxiliary at the Moose Club. Dixie’s generosity, friendliness, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Dixie will be remembered for her loving heart, strong spirit, and the deep devotion she showed to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

Survivors include her sons, Carl (Vickie) Nelson and Robert (Karen) Nelson; daughter, Cynde Nelson Kucera; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; brothers, Ray McCash and James McCash.
