A Memorial service for Catherine “Cathy” Crichton, 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Davis Funeral Home. Mrs. Crichton passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 in Riverton, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place.
Catherine was born on February 2, 1933, daughter of Orrie Martin and Iva (Emerson) Bowen in Ellsworth, Nebraska. Her father, Orrie, died in a tragic accident when Cathy was around 3 years old. In 1939, she moved to Riverton with her mom, brother, sister and stepfather, “Daddy”, Sam Von Krosigk. She grew up on the family farm north of Riverton on the Hoot Owl Road and attended schools in Riverton. She graduated from Riverton High School in 1951.
In 1952, Cathy married Walt Crichton in Billings, MT. She and Walt followed construction and oilfield jobs in Thermopolis, where their three children, Kevin, Ken and Candy were all born. The family later lived in Kemmerer, Wyoming and Fort Smith, Montana before settling in Riverton in 1966. While Walt continued to follow construction and oilfield work, Cathy served in raising her three children.
Survivors include her son, Ken Crichton; daughter, Candy Crichton; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Hinkle of Douglas, WY, Amanda Crichton of Riverton, WY, Bill (Stormy) Crichton of Riverton, WY, Kim (Steve) Refschneider of Idaho Falls, ID, Sandy (James) Martin of Idaho Falls, ID, Bill (Sheri) Russell of Casper, WY; 17 great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren; sister, Frances Bonazza of Lander, WY.
Mrs. Crichton was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Crichton; father, Orrie Bowen; mother, Iva Ballard; stepfather and daddy, Sam Von Krosigk; brother, Don Bowen; sister, Margaret Yetter; son, Kevin Crichton; daughters-in-law, Cindy, Dajuana and Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Charleen Von Krosigk; sister, Evelyn Hill.
