Funeral services for Sadie Bell, 80, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 13, 2026 at Great Plains Community Hall.  Interment will follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.  A traditional tribal feast will follow the burial at Great Plains Community Hall.  A Vigil service with the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Great Plains Community Hall with a wake to follow at the family home, 214 Left Hand Ditch Road.

 

Sadie Nina (C’Hair) Bell, lovingly known by her traditional name HiiCebe’Niibei (“Sings Above”), was born on May 31, 1945, in a traditional birth in a tent near the Wind River in Arapahoe, Wyoming. She made her journey on February 9, 2026, passing peacefully in her sleep at her home.

 

Sadie was a direct descendant of three respected Chiefs: Blackbear, Friday, and Little Owl. She lived her life deeply rooted in her Arapaho heritage and traditions. In her later years, she developed a strong passion for assisting in the revival of her native Arapaho language, dedicating herself to preserving it for future generations.

 

Sadie enjoyed traveling, shopping, visiting the casino, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She raised several of her grandchildren as her own and was known for her strength, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.

 

She is survived by her spouse, Duane Bell, Sr.; her children David Glasscox, Dawn (Denny) Teller of New Mexico, Dee Wanstall of Arapahoe, Byron (Amber) Bell of Arapahoe, Lynnette Bell of Lander, Darrell (Alta) Bell of Laramie, Daniel (Pamela) Bell of Denver, Colorado, Dave Bell, Sr., and Mary (Jerry) Leyva of Arizona; adoptive daughters Amy C’Hair and Dodie White Eagle of Denver; nephew Tynan Bearcomesout of Ethete; siblings Emma (Nelson) Moss, Raymond C’Hair, Laverne White, and Nelson White; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lovingly raised her grandchildren Latonya, Alexis, and Jeremy Bell as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eileen Blackbear C’Hair and Frank C’Hair; her children Trina Dullknife, Cindi Bell, Jerome Bell, and Duane Bell Jr.; siblings Louis C’Hair, Albert C’Hair, Patrick C’Hair, and Lawrence C’Hair; her daughter Johnna Moss; her sister Rose “C’Hair” Moss; and her grandbaby Jerome R. Bell.
