Marcia Ann Miller, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Riverton, Wyoming, surrounded by love and the memories of a life well lived.
A memorial service for Marcia will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, James “Jim” E. Miller, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Helena, Montana, where they will be reunited in eternal rest.
Marcia was born on June 3, 1942, in Glendive, Montana, the cherished daughter of Earl J. and Bertha Ann (Idland) Ayers. She spent her childhood in Glendive and Circle, Montana, and graduated from Billings Senior High School in Billings, Montana, with the Class of 1960. Following graduation, she pursued her calling at Acme Beauty College in Billings, beginning a career that allowed her to touch countless lives with both skill and kindness.
On October 5, 1963, Marcia was united in marriage to James “Jim” E. Miller in Billings, Montana. Their marriage was a true partnership rooted in love, devotion, and friendship. Together they made their home in Billings before moving to Helena, Montana, in 1974, and later to Riverton, Wyoming, in 1992.
Marcia built a respected career as a hairstylist, working for Hennessy in Helena, where she was known as a premier stylist with a devoted clientele. After moving to Riverton, she continued hairdressing until 2005, when declining health led her to retire. Marcia deeply loved her work and took great pride in helping others feel beautiful and cared for. She also worked alongside her husband photographing weddings, a joyful season of life that kept them especially busy each June. In her quieter moments, Marcia expressed her creativity as an artist through painting and by making wedding cakes, each crafted with care and love.
Above all, Marcia was devoted to her family. She was always present, offering gentle guidance, encouragement, and unwavering love. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Marcia and Jim were inseparable—often described as “like peas and carrots”—sharing life side by side and traveling together, including cherished trips to Arizona to visit family.
Marcia was a faithful, baptized member of the Catholic Church and a devoted parishioner of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, shaping her generosity, compassion, and servant’s heart. She joyfully volunteered her time for church functions and ministries, lived out her beliefs through acts of charity, and generously supported causes close to her heart, including Wyoming PBS. Marcia trusted in God’s promise of eternal life and now rests in the peace of His loving embrace.
Survivors include her daughters, Patti (Ricky) Baker-Anderson of Riverton, Wyoming and Penny (Matt) Balcerzak of Helena, Montana; brothers, Ron Ayers of Billings, MT and Mike (Jacque) Ayers of Billings, MT; sister, Peggy (John) Quinlivan of Havre, MT; grandchildren, Kaylan Schilling (Adam Huck), Aimee Balcerzak (Jaye Van Alstyne), and Megan Reeves (Romelo Wallace); 7 great grandchildren.
