Deni Lorraine Antelope
December 28, 1977 – February 11, 2026
Deni Lorraine Antelope, 48, of Ethete, Wyoming passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado, following an extended illness.
She was born on December 28, 1977, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, to Joseph “Big Joe” Antelope and Stella Helen (Morrison) Antelope.
Deni grew up attending Crazy Horse School in South Dakota before moving to Wyoming, where she attended Wyoming Indian Schools. While in high school, she participated in the Upward Bound program, was a cheerleader, and played volleyball at Wyoming Indian High School. After high school, she obtained her CNA license. She later lived in Wisconsin.
Deni worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander and at Morning Star Manor in Fort Washakie. She also worked at the Wind River Hotel & Casino and Taco Time in Riverton.
She loved camping and fishing with her children and cherished those moments deeply. She enjoyed going to the casino, coloring, and especially spending time with all her grandbabies, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her children, Cherish Black; Sterling Black Jr.; Stella White Antelope; Little Bear White Antelope; Ruby Big Medicine; Hunter Big Medicine; and Joella White Antelope; her siblings, Deborah Elk Boy, Joni Two Crow, and Lester White Antelope Sr.; her husband, Dustin Big Medicine; and numerous extended relatives across the nation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph “Big Joe” Antelope and Stella Helen Antelope; her brother, Sean Antelope Sr.; her sons, Joseph Antelope and Hunter Vance Big Medicine; her niece, Erica Antelope; her nephew, Shannon Amos Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Shannon Amos Sr.
A Vigil Service with Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Eagle Hall in St. Stephen’s. A wake will follow at Eagle Hall. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Wallowing Bull Cemetery near Ethete.
