Memorial services for P. T. Montz of Riverton are at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Riverton. Richard Reed officiates. Mr. Montz, 92, died on Friday, Feb.24, 2012. Paul Townley Montz was born in Scottsbluff, Neb., on Feb. 10, 1920, the son of LaBannah Alvesta Montz and Julie Ann Montz. On Nov. 1, 1951, he married Betty Lou Damewood in College Springs, Iowa. They had three sons, John, George, and Bruce. Mr. Montz was baptized into the Jehovah’s Witness faith on Feb. 20, 1960. He served as a ministerial servant, being appointed in Nampa, Idaho, on April 20, 1990. He continued in that capacity when he moved to Riverton and continued active in the ministry until his death. He also helped to distribute food for the senior citizens in Riverton. His family said Mr. Montz enjoyed woodworking, and made rocking horses for his grandchildren. He also made turtle footstools for many people. Mr. Montz farmed and ranched in Nebraska, worked for the irrigation district in Casper. He worked for Modern Appliance in Riverton. He earned certification in HVAC and, in that capacity he worked on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, off the Louisiana coast where he was flown in by helicopter, and on large apartment complexes in Houston, Texas, and Kansas City, Kan. Before retirement, he opened a business with a friend in Columbus, Tex. Mr. Montz had lived in Riverton three different times. He also lived in Nampa, Idaho, Houston, Texas, Columbus, Texas, Kansas City, Kan., Morgan City, La., Casper, and Mitchell, Neb. He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, John P. Montz of Rock Springs, George Montz and wife Susan of Riverton, and Bruce and wife Linden of Denver, Colo.; his twin sister, Pauline Brown of Scottsbluff, Neb.; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
