Clarence “Butch” Vernon Baty, Jr., 73, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
He was born on December 28, 1952, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Clarence Vernon Baty and Betty Jane (Moore) Baty.
Butch moved to Wyoming as a young boy and truly lived his best life there. He loved being surrounded by Wyoming’s beauty. His heart was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he lived his life with a deep love for his family, for performing, and for Wyoming’s breathtaking country.
In August of 2003, he married Judy Cragie, who preceded him in death.
Butch worked for the State of Wyoming for 19 years. He also served as Maintenance Supervisor for the Sundowner Motel for 21 years, where his hard work and dedication were greatly appreciated.
He had a lifelong love of Elvis Presley and shared that passion by performing Elvis’s music for others. Many may fondly remember Butch Baty and the Sundance Kids. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling, spending as much time outdoors as possible. The man could knock a quarter out of the sky with his revolver.
He is survived by his daughter, Coreen Johnson; his brothers, John Baty and George Reinhardt; and his two grandchildren, Michael Braden and Domanic Braden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Betty Baty; his wife, Judy Baty; his sisters, Mary Baty and Nancy Baty; and his brother, Gary Baty.
He will be remembered for his strong faith, his love of music, and the way he made a room come alive.
