Funeral services for Teresa SunRhodes will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 38 Great Plains Road, Arapahoe, Wyoming, with an all-night wake to follow.
Teresa passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026 in Casper, Wyoming.
Teresa Leah SunRhodes was born on December 9, 1971, in Riverton, Wyoming, the daughter of Earnest Joseph SunRhodes, Jr. and Mary Rose (Yellowbear) SunRhodes. She attended St. Stephen’s School, Chemawa Indian School, and Wyoming Indian High School.
She was baptized into the Catholic faith and carried her spirituality throughout her life. Teresa was deeply connected to her Native American heritage and was an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe. She actively participated in traditional ways, attending ceremonies and cultural gatherings that strengthened her connection to her people and community.
Teresa was a loving daughter, sister, and friend who treasured time spent with those closest to her. She found joy in being with her family, whether it was during holidays, family gatherings, or simple everyday moments. She also enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino, and sharing laughter with friends.
She worked in a variety of roles throughout her life, including as a housekeeper at the Wind River Casino, a traffic controller, and a case worker in social services. Through her work, she remained dedicated to helping others and contributing to her community
Survivors include her father, Ernest SunRhodes, Jr.; children, Janell SunRhodes, White Cloud SunRhodes, Juanita Gutierrez, Branelle, Cedrick Addison, Cherlynn and James Goodman; grandchildren, Rain Cloud SunRhodes, Katisha Shakespeare, Kenneth Shakespeare, III, SunRise Sitting Eagle, Clara Sitting Eagle, Brandy Sitting Eagle, Angelo SunRhodes, Kendrick Addison; siblings, Cara Palmer & Danny, Cassie SunRhodes, Justin SunRhodes, Ruth SunRhodes, Kenny SunRhodes and Allen Jo Whiteplume.
She was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rose Yellowbear; brother, Ernest SunRhodes, III; sister, Lorana Flack; children, Baudelio Gutierrez, Angelo Gutierrez, Brandy and Brandon SunRhodes; paternal grandparents, Ernest & Ruth SunRhodes; maternal grandparents, Calvin Yellowbear and Mary E. and Phillip Bear.
