Nohemi “Nony” Najera, 53, a pillar of faith and a devoted heart to the Riverton community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026. She was surrounded by the family she spent her entire life nurturing and loving.
Born on March 20, 1973, in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, Nohemi was the daughter of Salvador Cornelio and Imelda Weeks Legarda. Her father preceded her in death; her mother survives.
At the age of seven, she brought her bright spirit to the United States, settling in Riverton where she grew into a woman of incredible substance.
For 18 years, Nohemi was a familiar and encouraging face at Arapahoe Elementary School. As a paraprofessional and computer paraeducator, she didn’t just teach skills; she poured her heart into the students of Fremont County School District No. 38, leaving an indelible mark on a generation of learners.
On July 3, 2004, Nohemi’s life found its partner in Oswaldo Najera Castaneda. Married at the Way of the Cross Assembly of God, they built a marriage defined by service to the Lord. As a pastor’s wife, Nohemi served Iglesia de Dios Restauración with tireless grace. She was a devoted woman of God. Whether she was leading the congregation in worship, guiding the youth group, or managing the church’s needs as secretary, her life was a living testimony of her unwavering faith and compassion.
While her community service was vast, Nohemi’s greatest masterpiece was her family. She was a woman who believed in the power of presence. Her daughters were her pride, but her grandchildren were the absolute center of her world. To Nohemi, each grandchild held a "uniquely special place" in her heart; she was their biggest cheerleader, their softest place to land, and their constant source of joy.
She is survived by her loving husband, Oswaldo Najaera Castaneda of Riverton; her three daughters: Ruby (Manuel) Ramos and their children Rosalinda, Roxanna, Manuel, Rocio, and Raquel Ramos; Gabriela (Spencer) Piplica and their sons Santiago and Salvador Piplica;
Elizabeth “Vene” (Jesse) Kornder and their son Jesse “Benito” Kornder; her mother, Imelda Weeks; four brothers: Esteban Cornelio Legarda; Othoniel (Naomi) Cornelio; Noe Cornelio Hernandez; and Daniel C. Cornelio; three sisters: Olivia (Junior) Hernandez; Rachel (Julian) Mejorado; and Graciela Cornelio Hernandez. Her legacy of love lives on through her family.
She was preceded in death by her stillborn daughter, Antonia Robles; her father, Salvador Cornelio; her brother, Daniel C. Cornelio; her grandmothers, Elvira Mendoza Legarda and Cresencia Varela Melendez; her grandfathers, Edubies Legarda Holguin and Juan Cornelio; and her cousin, Ruth Torres.
A celebration of Nohemi’s life and faith will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Foundations for Nations, 20 Mission Road, Arapahoe, Wyoming, with Pastor Alejandro Valle officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Mountain View Cemetery.
A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton.

Nacida el 20 de Marzo de 1973 en Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, México, Nohemi era hija de Salvador Cornelio e Imelda Weeks Legarda. Su padre falleció antes que ella; le sobrevive su madre.
A los siete años, trajo su brillante espíritu a los Estados Unidos, estableciéndose en Riverton, donde creció hasta convertirse en una mujer de gran valor.
Durante 18 años, Nohemi fue un rostro familiar y alentador en la Escuela Primaria Arapahoe. Como asistente de maestra y asistente de informática, no solo impartió conocimientos; entregó su corazón a los estudiantes del Distrito Escolar No. 38 del Condado de Fremont, dejando una huella imborrable en una generación de estudiantes.
El 3 de Julio de 2004, Nohemi encontró a su compañero de vida en Oswaldo Najera Castaneda. Casados en la Iglesia Asamblea de Dios Camino de la Cruz, construyeron un matrimonio marcado por el servicio al Señor. Como esposa de pastor, Nohemi sirvió a la Iglesia de Dios Restauración con una gracia incansable. Era una mujer devota de Dios. Ya fuera dirigiendo a la congregación en la adoración, guiando al grupo de jóvenes o administrando las necesidades de la iglesia como secretaria, su vida era un testimonio vivo de su fe inquebrantable y su compasión.
Si bien su servicio a la comunidad fue extenso, la mayor obra maestra de Nohemi fue su familia. Era una mujer que creía en el poder de la presencia. Sus hijas eran su orgullo, pero sus nietos eran el centro absoluto de su mundo. Para Nohemi, cada nieto ocupaba un lugar único y especial en su corazón; ella era su mayor apoyo, su refugio y su fuente constante de alegría.
Le sobreviven su amado esposo, Oswaldo Najera Castaneda de Riverton; sus tres hijas: Ruby (Manuel) Ramos y sus hijos Rosalinda, Roxanna, Manuel, Rocío y Raquel Ramos; Gabriela (Spencer) Piplica y sus hijos Santiago y Salvador Piplica; Elizabeth “Vene” (Jesse) Kornder y su hijo Jesse “Benito” Kornder; su madre, Imelda Weeks; cuatro hermanos: Esteban Cornelio Legarda; Othoniel (Naomi) Cornelio; Noe Cornelio Hernández; y Daniel C. Cornelio; tres hermanas: Olivia (Junior) Hernández; Rachel (Julian) Mejorado; y Graciela Cornelio Hernández. Su legado de amor perdura a través de su familia.

Se celebrará una ceremonia en memoria de Nohemi el Sábado 11 de Abril de 2026 a la 1:00 p. m. en Foundations for Nations, 20 Mission Road, Arapahoe, Wyoming, oficiada por el pastor Alejandro Valle.
El velorio para familiares y amigos se llevará a cabo el viernes 10 de abril de 2026 de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Davis en Riverton.
Será sepultada después del servicio en el Cementerio Mountain View.
