Brad Brown
November 5, 1959 – May 1, 2026
Bradley Brent Brown, 66, of rural Riverton, Wyoming, passed away at his home on Friday, May 1, 2026.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Riverton Church of the Nazarene. A BBQ and sharing of memories will follow at Brad's shop, 49 Reece Road.
Bradley Brent Brown was born in Riverton, Wyoming, in 1959 to Betty Ann (Conat) Brown and William “Bill” Francis Brown. His early childhood years were spent in Riverton.
When Brad was four or five years old, the family purchased the farm at Missouri Valley and 8 Mile Road. After moving to the farm, Brad wore out his britches and tennis shoes pushing his Tonka loader and dump truck through the dirt while making backhoe sounds along the way. As he grew older, Brad became a tremendous help caring for sheep and farming alongside his brothers and parents. He loved farm life, and the place near Midvale remained dear to his heart throughout his life.
Brad’s father, Bill, had worked for Gilpatrick Construction for 15 years and passed on his dirt-working skills and love for moving dirt with machinery to Brad. Growing up alongside his father, Bill, Brad learned how to operate heavy equipment and build good roads.
He grew up hunting ducks, elk, and deer with his father and brothers. He also enjoyed fishing with his brother and later with his wife, Darla Brown. Another longtime hobby was cheering for the Denver Broncos.
Brad attended Pavillion School and later Wind River High School, graduating in 1978. While in school, he especially enjoyed playing basketball and football.
Right after high school graduation, Brad went to work for MDU, which later became WBI, at the plant on North Portal.
Moving dirt became Brad’s life’s work. He later started his own business, Brown Backhoe, with a Case 580 Super-D backhoe, an International dump truck, and a trailer. Over the next decade, Brad and his crew dug many foundations and utilities and installed several septic systems throughout the Riverton area.
In 1980, Brad met Darla (Chouinard) Creek, and the couple married in 1987. Darla was a tremendous supporter of the business, traveling with Brad whenever possible and keeping track of the finances.
As Brad transitioned the business from residential work into commercial and oilfield activities, the crew worked throughout Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota, and Nebraska performing oilfield reclamation work and state compliance projects.
Brad’s stepson, DJ Creek, worked for him as an operator for well over a decade and recalled Brad’s dedication to growing the company. Other family members who worked alongside Brad included Steve Brown, Nathan Brown, and more recently, grandsons Alex Creek and Isaac Creek.
Brad is survived by his brother, Tim Brown and wife Cheryl; his children, Scott Creek and wife Kelly, and DJ Creek and wife Carolyn; and his grandchildren, Ryan Creek, Isaac Creek, Alex Creek, and Brook Christoffersen. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Doug Chouinard Jr.; sister-in-law, Sheila Stricker; and Tim and Kay Tuttle, Darla Brown’s sister and brother-in-law. His great-grandchildren include Kace and Kali Christoffersen, Breven and Carson Creek, Eli Robinson, and Weston James Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darla Brown, on October 14, 2022; his parents, Bill and Betty Brown; and his brother, Steve Brown.
Brad will be remembered for his kindness to so many people, his strong work ethic, dependability, and desire to always do a great job. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor, his faith in God, his love for his dogs, and for being a great role model to the younger generations who followed after him.
