John A. Balber, 64, who died October 22, 2012 at his home in Pavillion, Wyoming. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and no service is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.

John was born January 3, 1948, son of Irwin and Jean (Gross) Balber in Oak Park, Illinois.

He received his BA from Illinois State University and his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Wyoming.

On August 30, 1969, he married Ghent Tyson in Grant Park, Illinois. They never had their own children but being in education, they helped raise a large amount of children. The couple moved to Wyoming in the early 70’s, fell in love with the state and never left.

He worked in education beginning as a teacher and then moving on to administrator and principal. Kids and educations were his life.

John loved sailing and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed camping, hiking and cross country skiing. He had a great sense of humor and was a very kind and honest man.

He volunteered for the Help for Health Hospice.

Survivors include his wife of Pavillion, brother, Mike Balber of Illinois, sister, Myra (Balber) Hyatt of Kansas, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dan Balber.
