Graveside services for Violet Elmeda Millsap, 98, will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Mark Rader of the United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Fremont County Library Foundation Endowment Fund, Lander, Wyoming in care of Davis Funeral Home.

Violet passed away on October 21, 2013 at the Wind River Healthcare Center in Riverton, WY.

She was born September 7, 1915 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, daughter of Frank S. and Anna (Tucksen) Kennedy.

Violet graduated in 1935 from the Torrington High School.

In 1937, she married Howard L. Millsap in Torrington. The couple moved to Riverton in 1943, then moved to Colorado and returned back to Riverton to retire in 1968. For many years, Violet worked as a cook in a school and nursing home in Eagle, Colorado.

Mrs. Millsap was a member of the United Methodist Church in Riverton. She was a co-founder of the first PTA of the Riverton School District. She was also one of the founding members of the Wind River Homemakers Club and served as a Girl Scout Leader.

She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and camping. Violet loved to sew and quilt.

Survivors include his daughters, Sylvia and her husband, Rod Girmus of Torrington, WY and Kay and her husband, Jim Coates of Chicago, Ill; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
