Isaac “Ike” Washington Sr., 61, of Arapahoe died on Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Sage West – Riverton Hospital. A rosary and wake will be held at Great Plains Hall on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at 10:00 am at Great Plains Hall. Evangelist Don Munson and Reverend Jim Finerty will officiates. Burial will be at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.

Isaac J. Washington was born on January 31, 1954 in Fort Washakie, WY to Otto and Mary Agnes (Bell) Washington. He was given the Arapaho name of HeTaneVoh (Arapaho Man). He attended school at Flandreau, SD and Northern Cheyenne Tribal School in Busby, MT.

On October 12, 1978 he married Viola “Tweety” Sooktis. From this union they were blessed with 10 children and 22 grandchildren.

He worked quite a few years as a firefighter at the Northern Cheyenne Forestry in Lame Deer, MT. He also worked at Ashland Saw Mill from 1990 to 1996, T.N.T. Costore Ashland, MT from 1996 to 1997 and the Lame Deer I.G.A.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also liked working on cars, loved to travel between MT and WY to be with his family, his brothers and sisters, and loved to make everyone laugh. He participated in the Arapaho Sundance.

He is survived by his sons, Alroy Washington, Cordell L. Washington, Sr., Isaac J. (Crystal) Washington, Kayle J. (Jamay) Washington, and DavenWhiskers; his daughters, Claudia (Justin Revere) Washington, Kimberly J. Washington, Gayla Washington, Mabette R. (Darwin Spoonhunter) Washington, Bethany J. Washington, Kelsey D. (Joseph Little) Washington, and Nancy Jean Washington; his brothers, William Washington, Paul Bell, Sr., Terry Antelope, Patrick Moss, Sr.; his sisters, Deloris Takes Enemy, Agnes (John) Doyle, Irene (Joe) Crazy Thunder, Billye Ann Shangreaux, and Sara (Jim) Littleshield; his aunt, Patsy Dodge; and his grandchildren, Justus Jhorey Washington, LeAndra F. Washington, Cordell L. Washington, Jr., Charlie O. Washington, Darwin J. Spoonhunter, III, Jesalynn E. Spoonhunter, Mariah J. Spoonhunter, Donovan M. Spoonhunter, Kyrie O. Spoonhunter, Darshawn J. Spoonhunter, Tristan Monroe, Clifton Monroe, Ashton Monroe, Leo Monroe, Brihanna Washington, Joseph S. Little, Jr., Isaac J. Washington, III, Isiah F. Washington, Keyshawn Sandcrane, Zyrin K. Washington, and Baby Washington.
