Nora "Rosie" Applehans

Nov 15, 1928 - Jul 27, 2015
The memorial service for Nora (Rosie) P. Applehans, 86, will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home with interment at Mountain View Cemetery with Steve Cooper officiating.

Nora Applehans died July 27, 2015 at Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton, Wyo.

She was born November 15, 1928 in Riverton, Wyo. and was the daughter of O. Ralph and Alice Mae (Coen) Trenary. Rosie was raised on the family farm north of Riverton and she lived there until her health forced her to move into Riverton to an apartment.

Rosie married the late John Applehans, with whom she had two sons, but they were later divorced. She retired from the Fremont County School District # 25 where she had driven school bus for 23 years. Rosie won many awards at school bus rodeos throughout the years. All who rode her bus can remember her whistle—if she had to do that “someone was in trouble”!

She enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved the out doors. She traveled to Alaska on occasion to fish and with her son, Allan. Nora was known for growing a large garden, including many types of berries. She loved horses and enjoyed raising her sheep while supporting her family.

Survivors include her son, Allan and his wife Caroline, of Alaska and Wyo. She had 7 grandchildren; Aaron (Trish) Applehans, Amy (Shane) Fertig, Annette Hill, Rosalee Tabor, Cody J.(Charisse) Applehans, Jodi (Vaughn) Meeke, and Jesse (Michele) Applehans: 14 great grand children and a sister in law, Marion Trenary.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Mae Trenary, sister Olive Day, brother O. Ralph Trenary Jr. and son, Arthur F. Applehans.
