A celebration of life service for Cynthia C. Fuechsel of Riverton will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the United Methodist Church of Riverton. Pastor Joseph Sifuentes of the of Crown of Life Ministries of Riverton will officiate. Mrs. Fuechsel died of natural causes at her home in north Riverton on Sunday evening, Dec. 14, 2008. She was 83. Cynthia Cary was the daughter of John and Jean Dines Cary, born on Nov. 2, 1925, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. She was graduated from Denver University with a BA degree in English. She married Robert Fuechsel in 1950 in Steamboat Springs. The couple came to Riverton in 1953 where Dr. Fuechsel practiced veterinary medicine. Mrs. Fuechsel was of the Christian faith and a member of the Riverton Four Square Church. She owned and operated the Lighthouse Christian Book and Gift Store in downtown Riverton. Her family said she grew up riding horses and was an avid fly fisher "outfishing everyone in the family." The family said Mrs. Fuechsel spent much of her life finding a home for animals of all types, with her current pet being a peahen named Queenie. They said she was an avid reader and card player and offered prayers at many funerals. During World War II, she had worked in Washington, D.C., then kept the books for her husband's veterinary practice for 34 years. She had operated the Lighthouse for 28 years and owned and operated the CE Cattle Co. ranch for 50 years. Survivors include three sons, Jeffrey Fuechsel and his wife Sharry and their sons Jeffrey and Nicholas, Douglas Fuechsel and his wife Heather and their children John and Jena, and Gregory Fuechsel. She was preceded in death by all immediate Cary family members. Memorials in her name may be made to the Paws for Life Animal League, PO Box 1178, Riverton WY 82501 or the Riverton Foursquare Church, 212 Stone Drive, Riverton WY 82501 to be used for missions, Bibles, and local needs.
