Byron L. Jacobsen of Thermopolis died January 14, 2009 at his home. He was 71 years old.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Worland with military rites by the American Legion.

Byron Lee Jacobsen was born July 10, 1937 to Raymond Russell Jacobsen and Helen Marjory (Purcell) Jacobsen, in Roseville, CA.

He grew up in Denison, IA, then moved to Riverton after serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Donna McCannon. He raised his family in Rawlins, then moved back to Riverton from 1981 to 1998. He moved to Powell to be near family, relocating to Thermopolis approximately 5 years ago.

Mr. Jacobsen was a telephone technician for AT&T for 30 years.

The family said he enjoyed old and collector cars, 50’s and 60’s music, hunting and camping.

Mr. Jacobsen is survived by a son Arnold Jacobsen of Thermopolis; daughters Vickie Davis and her husband Mitch of Buckland, KS and Brenda Rainwater of Cheyenne; brothers David Jacobsen and Reg Jacobsen, both of California; sister Terri Jacobsen of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Lois Geraldine Culp-Jacobsen.
