A Memorial service for Shawn Eric DeLorme, 49, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2023 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.  Cremation has taken place. 

 

Mr. DeLorme passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.

 

Shawn Eric DeLorme was born on January 14, 1974, son of Wayne L. and Juanita V. (Herrera) DeLorme in Lander, Wyoming.  Shawn was baptized into the Catholic faith.  He grew up on the Wind River Reservation, where he attended schools before transferring to Riverton High School, graduating in 1992.  He went on to earn his Associates Degree in criminal justice from Central Wyoming College.  He also took some classes at the University of Wyoming.

 

On June 19, 2003, Shawn married Emily A. Steger in Casper, Wyoming. 

 

Mr. DeLorme worked as a police officer for the BIA and social worker for the Northern Arapaho Tribe.  He also worked two years as a gaming commissioner and nine years as an internal auditor for the Gaming Commission.

 

Shawn enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, horseback riding and camping with his kids.  He also found pleasure in traveling, teasing and giving everyone a hard time as well as singing and performing, which he did until about a year ago.

 

Survivors include his wife, Emily DeLorme of Riverton; his mother, Juanita DeLorme; father-in-law, Dave Steger; son, Tristan DeLorme of Denver, CO; daughters, Alana Martinez of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Sydney DeLorme of Riverton, WY; grandchildren, Ares Mills and Alora Borque; brother, Kim (Christy) DeLorme of Florida; sisters, Jenee Finnen of NC and Denise (Sean) Mefferd of Denver, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne L. DeLorme; sister, Renae DeLorme and mother-in-law, Susan Steger.
