Candace Vassalluzzo

Dec 29, 1958 - Jun 23, 2023

Candace Vassalluzzo, 64, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.

Candace Ann Vassalluzzo (Smith) was born to Eva Marie and James Paul Smith on December 29, 1958 in Denver, Colorado. She was raised in Denver and graduated from East High School in 1976. After high school, she earned her associates degree in Gunnison, CO.

She worked in various fields throughout her life including the U.S. Geological Survey and Forest Service, as an editor, a farm and ranch hand, an office assistant, and most notably, in the school district as a para-professional. She was in the school district nearly 16 years.

She lived in Colorado most of her life but spent time in Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, California, and finally Wyoming.

Candace was blessed with two daughters, Kayla and Taylor, and later 3 grandsons whom she absolutely adored. Family was everything to her and anyone who knew her knew how much her family meant to her.

She was an avid Denver Broncos fan, loved being outdoors exploring the world, or just sitting in the sun reading a good book. Her most recent passion was hand embroidering beautiful stockings and wall hangings. Just a small representation of her magnificence. Her smile alone would light up the room.

She is survived by her daughters Kayla (Jim) Fenton, and Taylor Vassalluzzo. As well as her grandsons, Brantyn Olson, Kastyn Raza, and Sterling Fenton.

She is proceeded in death by her grandparents Harold and Lillie Oakes, her parents Eva and James Smith, as well as her oldest daughters father David Butzen.

A Go Fund Me has been set up to help with expenses.
