Richard Harris, 75, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away at his home on Saturday, December 30, 2023.  A funeral service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Davis Funeral Home. Interment at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming with military honors will be at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

 

Richard McDonald Harris was born on July 10, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Abner Dorsey and Bethel Dean (McDonald) Harris. He received his Physician Assistants (P.A.) from Medical University of South Carolina.

 

Richard proudly served in the U. S. Airforce from 1968 to 1972 and the U. S. Army from 1978 to 1984. He served two tours in Vietnam. After traveling and living all the United States, he was Honorably Discharged in Winder, Georgia before moving to Wyoming in 2007.

 

He married Frances Ann Steed in August 1969, together they had four children. They later divorced. On January 20, 2018 in Jackson, Wyoming he married his wife, Sarah Steger, she survives him.

 

He worked as a Physician Assistant at Fremont Family Practice and most recently at Wind River Cares.

 

Richard enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, working, and serving his community in his capacity as a P.A. He loved his family and spending time with them.

 

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Harris; sons, Adam (Brandi) Harris, Klint (Jill) Harris, and Shannon (Stacey) Harris; daughter Marybeth (Kristopher) Pope; step-son, Bradon Veach; brother, Gary (Vicky) Webb; and grandchildren, Lance (Erin), Chelsea (Davy), Bailey, Olivia, Elizabeth, Bryson, Brystol, Dawsyn, and Ryder; great grandchildren, Brody and Iveigh Ruth.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital-Utah in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 West Main Street, Riverton, Wyoming 82501.
