With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Geoffrey “Geoff” L. Connor, 63, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at his home near Riverton, Wyoming surrounded by the land and life he loved.
Geoff was born on June 23, 1961, son of Gerald W. and Geraldine (Hodges) Connor in Pontiac, MI. Geoff graduated from Highland Area High School in 1979 and launched a distinguished 40-year career in the oil industry. Beginning as an entry-level oil field hand, his dedication and expertise led him to the prestigious role of “Company Man” for the final decade of his career. His work spanned the United States, from the North Slope of Alaska to the Gulf of Mexico. In recent years, Geoff found great joy in driving the school bus in Riverton, where his kindness and reliability earned him the admiration of students and colleagues alike.
On September 28, 1985, Geoff married Sheryl A Lucyk, the love of his life. Together they made Riverton their home for the next 35 years. They built their dream home in 2010 on 20 acres near the Wind River with sweeping views of the Wind River Mountains. The couple shared a deep love for the outdoors and a life filled with adventure, animals, and open skies. Their home welcomed horses, dogs, cats, and even farm life over the years.
An avid outdoorsman, Geoff thrived in the beauty of the natural world. He treasured family vacations, camping, hunting, fishing, and the roar of NHRA drag races. Whether riding his Harley, exploring the mountains on all-terrain vehicles, or snowmobiling through Wyoming’s winter landscapes, Geoff embraced every adventure with enthusiasm. His hearty laugh and warm presence made him the heart of every gathering.
Geoff was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Connor and Geraldine Miller; in-laws, Jerry and Janet Lucyk and grand-nephew, Carter Lucyk; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 39 years, Sheryl A. Connor; brothers, Gary Connor and Adam Connor; sister, Gwenn (Kevin McClellan) Connor; brothers-in-law, Jeff (Shari Franko) Lucyk, Randy (Cathy) Lucyk, and David (Shari) Lucyk; nephews and nieces, Brent (Miranda) Lucyk, Eric (Misty) Lucyk, Carissa (Taylor) Smith, Taryn (Aaron) Weaver, Garrett Lucyk, and Delaney Connor; grandnephews and grandnieces, Zane Lucyk, Lauren Lucyk, Eli Smith, Campbell Smith, Simon Smith, and Lucia Weaver; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as his sweet dogs, Tora and Blu, who also mourn his loss and also those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Geoff will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, strength, and generosity, as well as his love for adventure and family. His spirit will live on in the mountains he cherished, the memories shared, and the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A private memorial service for immediate family will be held “on the mountain” that held deep meaning to Geoff, at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the local animal rescue, yolaspetrescue.org or youth program honoring Geoff’s compassion for both animals and young people.
