Robert H. "Bob" Hampton died at his home in Riverton on Tuesday, April 12, 2010, at the age of 76. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 15, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Riverton with the Rev. Father Tony Blount S.O.L.T. officiating. Interment follows at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton. Rosary is at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. Robert H. Hampton was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Feb. 1, 1935, the son of Ray and Evaladell (Whittaker) Hampton. He attended schools in Texas and Casper. As a young man, he worked on the oil rigs in the Casper area. This brought him to Riverton in 1950 where he met his future wife of 58 years, Joan M. Hanzlick. He continued a career in the oil fields and later owned and operated a farm north of Riverton. He received the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year award in 1970. In later years, Mr. Hampton owned and operated Fremont Packing in Riverton. He married Joan Mary Hanzlick at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Riverton on June 15, 1952. They had two children -- James H. and Joyce M. Mr. Hampton was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served on the board of directors of the Riverton Senior Citizens' Center. His family said he enjoyed carpentry, fishing, spending time with all of his family, camping with his family, telling life stories to his grandchildren, holding his wife's hand, and watching his family grow. Survivors include his wife, Joan M. Hampton of Riverton; a son, James H. Hampton and his wife Billie of Battlement Mesa, CO; a daughter, Joyce M. (Hampton) Fried and husband Gary of Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren, Tamera Kendrick and husband John of Rock Springs, Robert O. Hampton and wife Linette of Riverton, Korey Fried and wife Jennifer of Loveland, Colo., Travis Fried of Riverton, Dakota and Amber Miranda Fried of Loveland, Colo.; 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; a brother, William C. Dove. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Evaladell Hampton; grandparents, Leonard "Boomer" and Bessie Marie Jaynes; brothers, Edward and Charles Hampton.
