Funeral services for Harold Oscar Capellen, 98, will be held 2:00 p.m. Wed, April 27th at Davis Funeral Home with Pastor David Magruder of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until service time Wed. at the funeral home.

Harold was born December 26, 1912 near Hazard, NE to Oscar and Ruth Capellen.

He was the oldest of 5 children, 2 brothers, Stanton and Leonard and 2 sisters, Bernice and Fern, all of whom preceded him in death.

He and his family moved to the Pavillion/Morton area in 1934, and took up homesteads. Cleaning the sage brush from the land, building a home, getting irrigation, electricity, etc. He served on the Morton School Board. In 1936, he married Dorothy Scheele, whose family had a homestead nearby. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Loretta and Janet. He worked the land and also had jobs with Midvale irrigation as a ditch rider and a mechanic in the shop.

In 1955, they moved to a ranch on the North Fork, west of Milford, near Lander, where they ranched for several years. About 18 years ago, the couple sold their ranch at Lander and moved to Riverton.

He also worked for Brasel and Sims Construction as an equipment operator.

He was a faithful member of the Lutheran church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, one granddaughter, Laura Sabo Cox, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and his parents.

He is survived by his daughters, Loretta J. Hankins and her husband, Jess of Crowheart, WY, Janet Carol Sabo and Don of Fort Worth, TX, grandchildren, Shelli (Kent) Haun, Shonna Fabrizius, Jesse ( Kelly) Hankins, Doug (Andrea) Sabo and Cheryl (Ed) Wiseman, 13 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
